Bonsall is home to San Luis Rey Downs, a training facility for thoroughbreds. This is the only training track of its kind that the California Horse Racing Board has approved every period since 1984.
Residents are within minutes to restaurants, stores, and services with centers like River Village Plaza, River Village San Luis Rey Shopping Center, and the Dax Stores. Just to the south you’ll find the Vista Valley Country Club which features a Ted Robinson designed 18-hole golf course. The club also offers facilities for weddings and other special events. The 76 Freeway is close for commuters and shoppers.
Bonsall was once a rural community that focused on agriculture. Today it is more of a residential community that is considered family-friendly. First known as Mount Fairview it was built along the San Luis Rey River. Its name was changed to Osgood until 1890 when it was named after a local minister.
